iOS 17.4 introduces more than 100 new emojis, including a phoenix, a slice of lime, and heads shaking in different directions.Additionally, there are eighteen updated versions of existing emojis featuring new directions. For instance, the original character facing left now has a counterpart facing right.

Reading Messages by Siri

In iOS 17.4, Apple introduced a new feature that allows Siri to read messages to you in multiple languages. this will not change the primary language Siri listens to and responds in.

Music Recoginition

Songs that have been identified with music recognition can be added to ‌Apple Music‌ Playlists, the ‌Apple Music‌ Library, and ‌Apple Music‌ Classical.

New-Generation CarPlay

Apple asserts that for vehicles equipped with CarPlay, Apple Maps will introduce a fresh dashboard experience. This dashboard will showcase a range of data, encompassing real-time weather updates, tire pressure details, rear-view camera feed, EV charging status, and additional features.

New iMessage Security Protocol

iOS 17.4 introduces a new cryptographic protocol for iMessage called PQ3, which enhances the security of end-to-end messaging encryption against potential quantum computing attacks. 

iPhone 15 Battery Health

In iOS 17.4, Apple updated the Battery interface for iPhone 15 models, now displaying Battery Health status like “Normal” for quick assessment.Apple also confirms the iPhone 15 battery maintains 80% capacity after 1,000 cycles.

Tapping into the battery health readout shows the battery cycle count, manufacture date, and first use will be listed. This information was previously hidden in the General > About section of the Settings app.

Stopwatch Live Activity

iOS 17.4 adds a Live Activity function for the Stopwatch feature on the ‌iPhone‌.Accessible via the Clock app, the Stopwatch now appears on the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen, offering controls for pausing, clearing, and starting new laps.

Stolen Device Protection
